Terry stays grounded in the light of RFU awards
Our Head Groundsman and erstwhile committee man Terry Hall has been busy during the close season with improvements that have caught the eye no less of RFU HQ with an award of Valued Volunteer accompanied by a visit to the Allianz Stadium, Twickenham to cut the hallowed turf.
The RFU event was two days where Terry and nine other volunteers from different clubs were shown out of bounds areas such as changing rooms, directors’ and royal boxes. Terry was also allowed to cut the grass at Twickenham.
Terry said: “This was something money can’t buy. It was nice to be appreciated for what you do for the club and for rugby in general. I met some new friends from other clubs and it was good camaraderie all round. I do want to mention though our excellent volunteers and especially Paul Trueman who has put countless hours into ground maintenance at Park.”
No sooner did he jump off the train, he was back on at Park and a team of volunteers such Paul Trueman, Sean Mooney and team to dismantle the old posts and install new ones. The operation is far from straightforward and requires the new incumbents to be weatherproof, stable and conform to specifications.
