The club is sad to announce the passing of Barry Tilston aka "The Pipe", a true servant to the club.
The Pipe joined the club in the early 70s and after initially trying to make his way up the teams settled into playing for the junior sides. He went on to captain and organise many of the junior and vets teams in the years to come. He also managed and coached various colts teams and went on many club tours to various parts of the country and further afield.
You could always find him after the game chatting to the opposition with his chunkie pint glass (with a handle) at the bar.
Upon retirement The Pipe was the fixture secretary and referees liasion officer for many years.
The club sends its heartfelt condolences to his wife Sue and their wider families. As a mark of respect and affection from many of the past players and members a minutes silence will be held before kick off of Saturday's last home game.
The funeral of Barry will take place at 10.30 on Wednesday April 2nd at Landican South Chapel. Afterwards at Thingwall Recreation Centre, Sparks Lane.
