Firstly Happy New Year to you all and best wishes from BPFC.

As we start the New Year, we will be aiming for more regular communication and an improvement in our marketing content and media channels thanks to our volunteers. More to come soon but please find our Newsletter for Jan 2025 below.

Newsletter January 2025

New General Manager

As many of you know, Mark Weller left to pastures new with our best wishes. His successor, Mark Parry or ‘Monty’ is a highly experienced operator in the licensed trade having managed The Fox and Hounds in Barnston, Carden Park and Heswall Golf Club. He has a full plan of special events in store and would invite all our members to support his efforts to generate income for the club. Monty can be contacted at birkenheadheadpark1871@gmail.com if you have ideas, suggestions and/or enquiries.

But first can you help us locate our lost subscribers?

We are on a campaign to ensure that we have all the correct email addresses in order to ensure that our events, matches and fundraising opportunities can be shared as widely as possible. Clearly, you are already receiving this message but please do share this with partners, wives, friends and/or colleagues, so that we can broaden the news broadcast and update our database. We will be launching a new website/social option asap, but in the mean time you can email any newly discovered addresses to Monty at the above address.

Coming up

You can find the upcoming home games on the website and social media (mainly on Facebook).

Unbelievably there are only three home games left for the men, on18 January with fellow strugglers, Stoke on Trent followed by Stockport on the 1 March and Penrith on 22 March. A pre-match lunch will be available. Contact m.p.mcnally@btinternet.com for bookings. The deserved win vs Blackburn was most welcome as were the efforts in the most recent games. Well done lads. Let’s go again.

The Upper Park will see The Panthers hosting five more home games. KO times TBC on Sunday 9th February vs Harrogate, 29th March vs Blaydon Redkites, 6 April vs Southport, 19 April vs Manchester with the recent postponed game vs LSH tba. Sunday’s sorted.

Six Nations Watch Parties

England, Ireland or Wales fan? We’ve got you covered.

BPFC  be offering wine for £10 and charcuterie board x 2 for £15. Yes, that’s cheese and wine if you are a second row forward, or just come down and have a pint. Suffice to say, it’s warm inside.

Friday 31st January 20:15 France vs Wales. Can the dragons reverse the slide or will France be too strong?

Saturday 1 February 14:15 and 16:45 it’s Scotland vs Italy and Ireland vs England. Will Jimmy wear his kilt? Can England contrive to lose again to a top ranked side? All will be revealed (well not Jimmy’s thankfully).

Saturday 8 February 14:15 and 16:45 Italy vs Wales and England vs France. Pull up a chair next to Barry’s log fire and grab a glass of wine. Come on England!

Sunday 9 February 15:00 Scotland vs Ireland. This must be the tightest call for years.

Saturday 22 February  14:15 and 16:45 Wales vs Ireland followed by England v Scotland. Why not visit our British Lions room to pay tribute to those Park players who graced the blue, green white and red?

Sunday 23 February  15:00 Italy vs France. Both fine wine producing countries and we have some in stock to whet your whistle.

Saturday 8th March at 14:15 and 16:45 Ireland vs France then Scotland vs Wales. If you’re a neutral, the first one in particular must be the most intriguing. Can Wales do a job at Murrayfield?

Sunday 9 March 14:15 England vs Italy. We’ll know by now whether the championship is still on for Borthwick’s boys. Italy will be plotting their first victory at Twickers meanwhile.

Saturday 15 March 14:15, 16:45 and 20:00. The grand finale with Italy vs Ireland, Wales vs England and France vs Scotland. No words necessary. It’s the last day of the Six Nations. Nuff said.

29th March Birkos Bingo

Madness, the basic attribute of a rugby player, will ensue. Eyes down for our Bingo with a twist. Buy your tickets & save the date. Join us for fun, dancing, prize cocktails and a fun vibe. The £15 ticket gets you a hot pot meal, with a vegetarian option and a free drink + our President Eric Thomas will tell a hilarious joke subject to scarce availability. Our poster has been shared on our socials and the tickets, at the bar, are selling fast.

Coming soon

Mothers’ Day will be upon us so keep Sunday 30th March free for a memorable family event. We will be updating you with details and tickets once we have finalised the arrangements.
