Birkenhead Park Running Club - A Month of Long Runs

Wow, what a month April was for our club! It was a month of long runs, but before we look at April, the end of March saw over 60 BP:RC runners don their volt yellow race tops and take part in the Liverpool 10 mile and half marathon. With over 12000 people running the streets of Liverpool, around Sefton Park and along Otterspool Prom to finish outside the Liver Building, what an amazing day that was, for many of the club this was their first 10 miler or half marathon, well done to everyone.

Then we get into April and kick off with some of your ladies taking part in the SheUltra Marathon, an all women's 30 mile race from Abersoch to Pwllheli. The following day we saw over 30 BP:RC runners run the Mersey Tunnel 10K, a race that takes you from Liverpool through the Kingsway Tunnel to Seacombe, along the prom, finishing in New Brighton. Good Friday saw some amazing running at the M2L Ultra Marathon, 50 miles run from Manchester to Liverpool along the Trans Pennine Way. Then to top it all off several of us took part in the Manchester and London Marathons in unseasonably warm weather.

Our run meet after the London and Manchester Marathons, see if you can spot some of us showing off our marathon shirts

Our club isn’t all about these long distance runs, on May 13th we start our second Couch to 5K programme. This programme gives the chance for new runners (or anyone who has run in the past and wants to get back into it) to follow the C25K programme with other people and with some guidance from some of our experienced club runners. If you would like to get into running and start our C25K programme, turn up to the Rugby Club at 6.30 on Tuesday May 13th, sessions will be on every Tuesday and Friday for 8 weeks.

We are always happy to receive new members, our meeting days are Tuesdays and Fridays, 6.20 at the Rugby Club.
