Sean Mooney

 

We are pleased to announce that Sean Mooney has been appointed Captain of Birkenhead Park Football Club for the 2022/23 season.

 

New Director of Rugby Neil Shaw’s first job was to appoint a new skipper after previous Captain Ollie Mabbott stepped down after the recent Basque Tour. Neil commented “ I spoke with Head Coach, Dave Blyth, and Sean was our standout choice to lead the team, Sean always leads by example and he gives everything on the pitch.”

 

Sean has been a member of Park his whole life, Sean exclaimed “ It’s such an honour to have been made Captain, I’ve been coming here since a child watching my dad and then playing in the juniors. I’ve been in the first team for over ten years and I hope to lead the team from the front, bringing my own take on captaincy as well as taking inspiration from previous captains who have led me in the past.”

 

It’s been quite a few months for Sean as he has just become a new dad to son Harry with Fiancée (former Panthers Captain) Jess Whitehead.

Training begins at Park at 6.45pm on Tuesday 5th July, new players welcome!
